Call to Action: BIA Schedules Additional Consultations on EO 14191: Expanding Educational Freedom and Opportunity for Families on July 14 and 15
Kennedy Satterfield
Communications Specialist
On Monday, July 14 and Tuesday July 15 the Bureau of Indian Affairs will host three additional virtual consultations on Executive Order 14191: Expanding Educational Freedom and Opportunities for Families.
The BIE is holding additional Tribal consultation sessions to gather feedback on proposed mechanisms developed in response to EO 14191, directing the expansion of educational choice for families of students eligible to attend BIE schools. These consultations aim to inform the implementation of policies that would allow families to use federal education funding for a wider range of options, including private, faith-based, or charter schools. The sessions build on earlier consultations held in March and reflect the BIE’s commitment to upholding the federal trust responsibility and supporting Tribal authority in education. Input from Tribal leaders, educators, and other stakeholders will guide final decisions ahead of the 2025–26 school year.
