In pursuance of the mission of the NATIVE Act, the Office of the Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs, through the Office of Indian Economic Development (OIED), announced a FY 2024 Tribal Tourism Grant Program (TTGP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Tribal tourism projects.
Eligible applicants include:
· Native American Tribal Governments (federally recognized);
· Native American Tribal Organizations (other than federally recognized); and
· Indian Tribes and Tribal Organizations, as defined in Section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA) (25 U.S.C. 5304), including Tribal Consortia.
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to provide financial assistance for tribes to create, rebuild, or strengthen their tourism industry that have an economic development component to achieve community benefits. Tribes may conduct feasibility studies to make informed decisions about potential tourism projects. TTPG may also fund tribal tourism businesses that are recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Only one application will be allowed per tribe. Note that no project that has comparable activities previously carried out under other federal assistance shall be funded.
The OIED anticipates awarding approximately 10-15 grants under this announcement ranging in value from roughly $75,000 to $150,000 in one-time funding and the TTGP will remain active for a 24-month period of performance.
Applicants are encouraged to conduct the required registration activities for the System for Award Management (SAM), Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), the Automated Standard Application for Payment (ASAP), as well as acquire Tribal authorizations.
