September was a busy month, as fall months always are.  Here at AIPI we were all over participating in multiple events and meetings. And, our second cohort of the ILA is off to an amazing start! In addition to these events, as Ford Foundation grantees, I was invited to participate in the Ford Foundation Technology + Society Grantee Retreat held September 20-21, at Foxhall Resort, a retreat center outside of Atlanta, GA. There were about 80 leaders of the various organizations in this portfolio, including me.  Additionally, multiple Ford program officers were in attendance.

The event was really an “unconference” in that we as the participants shaped where we wanted to go with the conference. There were some heartfelt large group conversations, some great social sessions, and some great small breakout sessions on the second day.  We were focused on reconnecting and seeing where there were opportunities for collaboration.

It was important to be in one place and to reconnect socially. I greatly enjoyed my time at the retreat (which was held in Creek homelands along the Chattahoochee River) and I strengthened my relationship with other organizations and with our funders. I came back energized for the coming year.
